What uses your travel data?
Maps, ride bookings and text messages tend to use less data than watching video or uploading a day of clips. Video quality matters: a higher-resolution stream uses more than a smaller one, and autoplay can keep using data while you scroll. Voice calls are usually lighter than video calls, so think about how you actually keep in touch with home.
Hotspot use counts too. A laptop may download updates, sync photos or back up files in the background as soon as it connects. Pause those jobs, download entertainment on Wi-Fi and save offline maps before heading out. Check your phoneโs data-use screen to see which apps need attention.
Treat this calculator as a starting point, not a guaranteed allowance. Enter a normal travel day, add your full trip length and leave some room for delays or days without Wi-Fi. Then compare both the GB and validity of the suggested plan before buying.

Typical trips to try
- A weekend city break
Start with three days, light social use and short calls. Offline maps and hotel Wi-Fi can keep mobile use modest.
- A week with the barkada
Try seven days with daily social posts and video calls. Count your own use; a group purchase gives each person a separate plan.
- Two weeks working away
Add hotspot hours for your laptop as well as phone activity. Meetings, cloud backups and software downloads can change the estimate quickly.
